The accident occurred during a gala celebrating the 125th anniversary of the railway's opening; as part of the gala, the railway had doubled the number of trains operating for the weekend. After the accident, all trains on the line were annulled and the gala was cancelled. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
